The Cyanoacrylate Principle:
The adhesive is kept in a liquid form by a stabilizer molecule. Best results are obtained with 40-60% RH. Most surfaces have atmospheric moisture on them that neutralizes the stabilizer molecule. When this occurs, the adhesive molecules create a thermoplastic solid. The strength of the adhesion depends on the mechanical interlocking or keying action onto the surface and the closeness of the attracted molecules.

Cyanoacrylates, or instant adhesives, will bond a wide range of substrates including wood, plastic, paper/cardstock, rubber and metal. These adhesives have a very fast handling strength time. Typically, 50% of strength is achieved in around 1 minute depending on the substrates. To achieve full strength and maximum bond results allow 12 hours for a full cure. In cases where immediate or on-demand curing is required, use an accelerator like A113. For difficult to bond surfaces, the use of primers like A701 prepares the substrate surfaces resulting in stronger bonds.
